THE LIFE AND CALL OF A UNIBEN GRADUATE
By Ozomoge Michael
I school, you school; we all school. The journey just begun but tough anyway. We left our comfort homes to new horizons for the fear of the future. We lit up the candles as boys and girls for the glorious women and men to emerge. Lecturers played hide and seek with us, Night class becomes our el do ra do. Chairs and table turns to our soft beds, darkness, poor water supply becomes our friends.
Assignments stole our sleep, puzzled with our lifeline and sometimes even shifted the positions of our pockets and pulse. We studied harder to get the grades as new semester approaches, we empty our pockets for books, food, and many other logistics, just to survive and see our glorious future comes daily
At sunrise, morning lecture calls with stomach filled with nothing, pockets, wallets, pulse, without money but filled with identity cards hence, sustains the day with streneous non-activities with offices of lecturers becoming home-sweet-home. Attimes, we try, borrow and beg for friends and sponsor to fill our stomach with garri. (Which has becomes a well treated campus salad) . Sometimes a lift with the two legs to classes becomes preferable than shuttle in order to see you through. Gradually we are coming to our final year and we have to learn that keeping Good relationship will surely worth it all, assisting one another to survive is the best we can do. Because After the final exams, we get ready for graduation.
Godgrace, the long awaited day comes. Our eyes filled with tears of Joy and our minds ready to picture what the future holds. The caps start rolling in the air as graduates throw up their pen and some materials; family and friends rejoices as the journey of life begins.
Arise o compatriots serving the nation becomes inevitable as NYSC turns higher Bsc. Then the world receives another group of young
intellectuals who are ready to uncover, and use their knowledge gain for service, to unfurled their fruitful works. Surely we shall overcome, some day. now, build the spirit of cooperation, love, and communication with one another,. Remember, we are all struggling to survive, help were you can, do not harden the whip of the existing schooling system.
Some of us we meet again years from now.
In the next 10 years, 20 years what will differ you from the others is your assignment and the problems you have been able to solve for mankind.
some UNIBEN graduates will turn the tides and make her black nation proud and also bring joy to the African continent. I see them making history and becoming people of global excellence and international value. go make us proud
Yes you can - you can do it!
*all over the wide wide world our fruitful works unfurled, what we sow with Joy and pride, with good and common goal.*
God bless UNIBEN
God bless US ALL
God bless all patriotic UNIBEN students
